Thinking of Seattle

This morning, I happened to watch a TV program about life in Seattle. I was there about 2 years ago! Gosh, I miss there so much.

One couple was on the TV. They introduced their breakfast and were eating it outside. That reminded me of my host family. I enjoyed a Sunday brunch or dinner with them in their beautiful garden. I loved the time.

I often think of Seattle. I think of how my host family and friends are doing over there. I live in Japan, but my mind is often in Seattle.

I will visit the city someday, though I have not decided it yet ;-)

Marriage between Japan and Thailand

Yesterday, Sep 10th, 2006, my friend got married. The couple was so lovely that everyone felt happy for them. We could tell they love each other.

It was an international marriage between Japan and Thailand. Two cultures became one.

Every marriage requires commitment, but an international marriage could require even more attention because of many challenges, such as language barriers, differences in values, sex role expectations and so on. However, as long as they love each other, I believe they can overcome those challenges. And they can share the differences and create own culture.

On the wedding, I made a speech. I thought I would be nervous, but actually I enjoyed it! I wanted to give a good speech, so I practiced a lot. Maybe it helped me a lot.

My friend, who was the groom, really cares about his partner from the bottom of his heart. His way of talking to her and holding her hand show he is in love with her. So does she. And for the wedding, he made a film all by himself, which included their memorable pictures. He did not ask a professional designer to make it because he was the only one who can project every single precious memory he had with her. He makes his girl so special.

At the end of the wedding, the couple talked to each of us and gave a message card to each person. It was really nice.

I believe the couple will light up one another’s life and their happiness will last forever and ever. Congratulations!

Returned Their Home

My friends came from Seattle and had been here in Japan for about two months. They just wrapped up their trip and returned their home…

Can you imagine how much I got excited when they came to Japan? We hanged out and spent some time together. BBQ, fireworks, lunch/dinner, movie, Karaoke,… We got so many memories while they were here.

One more precious thing…Their parents also came to Japan and stayed here for a few weeks. While they were having their family trip, I had a chance to have dinner with them. We cooked meal together, which was so much fun! I had a really really really sweet time with them. After their parents went back to Seattle, I sent a Thank-you card to them. It was touching that they wrote a card and sent it back to me.

Since I am busy at my work and in studying to take tests, I wished I could have more time to be with them. We arranged to see after my work or on weekends. Every time I saw them, I got somehow energy. We laughed a lot and talked a lot… I was lifted up.

Literally, time flies…

I hope they had a wonderful time in Japan. Keep in touch.
