New-Year Party 2008

We had a New-year party of the company on Jan 18. I saw everyone smiling at the party, and it was great success!

In Dec, a business manager asked all employees who can volunteer to plan the New-year party. So, me and some of other coworkers decided to do it. We thought all we should do was just to decide the place and some other little things, but actually, it was not. I mean, we should have planned EVERYTHING!!! IN A MONTH!!! We were like "Oh my god..."

Besides our everyday work, we had meetings for the party several times every week. Since our branches are located in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, we held those meetings through the video to communicate with committee members from Osaka and Nagoya. We discussed the place, shows, games, food, presents, MC, decorations, schedule, and so on... We had lots of discussions and nagotiations.

It was a little tough to plan such a big event in a month, but all committee members wanted to make it successful. We wanted to make it different from the past parties. So, we worked so hard for the party. But at the same time, we enjoyed planning it!

We decided the theme for the party as Japan Night. We held the party at Crystal Yacht Club near the bay. During the party, we had an arm-wrestling game inviting a professional referee, fireworks, a small concert of collaboration music with piano, cello, and a hand drum, award of costumes (Many people wore costumes, so it was like a costume party!) , etc... It was a lot of fun.

Everyone enjoyed the party, and our committee members got "thank you words" from may people. We felt it was successful.

I am still a new joiner of the company but got to know many people/staff through the party. Compared to the time when I just joined the company, I am more excited to work with them.

Hi,
I had a look at your website through a link on Mayu's blog.
Congrats for organizing the event in a month.

Such projects are great to get to know people when you are a newcomer in an organization.
